Why does people believe in the existence of a God that cannot be prove?

SOURCE : Unknown

When people ask me if I believe in God, I told them Which God? Jesus, Buddha? Any of thousands of gods out there, I have an opinion about it:

No, I don’t see a compelling evidence of believing in a god out there. Religion is probably an attempt - an early attempt - a primitive attempt, to explain the world, and the easiest way to do it is to invent an agency that is all powerful and can do all these things that you don’t understand.

You are walking along a path, a rock hits you behind the head, you look around, perfectly clear day. Somebody threw that rock. Well if nobody threw that rock then there must be a rock God or something like that that throws you a rock at the back of the head. You got to have an explanation for it, we human beings and all animals when you came down to it, want to have an explanation of the world around them.

If you do a magic trick to a dog, they will go nuts, they will search everywhere like they are crazy, because we have spoiled his expectation of the world, and it really worries them, you see them actually going nuts, they are worried, they are really grieved by it, they are bothered by it.

The truth is that it challenges them in a way they have not be challenged before, because their expectations of the real world have not been achieved, and that’s what happens with people, they want to understand, and inventing a God, a series of gods or a panoply of gods, is the very easy way to do it. If it rains, its because that’s the rain god, and that’s why the rain comes down out the sky, that’s the easy way to do it. And the same thing happens with human beings.
